Hey gamers!

Whew! We’re tired, that’s for sure. Here at Minecon 2016 we’ve been running around like a couple of crazy people trying to meet everyone and experience all of the awesome stuff Minecraft and Mojang has put together for us!

In that vein, we’ve been taking a lot of notes over the weekend to help put together this blog post, to outline the latest news and additions coming / released from MINECON 2016. We hope this list helps you prepare for Minecraft in the future, and hopefully give you some great ideas to put together on your Minecraftserver.net server!

Minecraft Chinese Mythology Mash-up

Coming to us on Oct 4, existing owners of Minecraft: Console Edition will be able to download the new Chinese Mythology Mash-Up pack for just $4.99. This pack will include a pre-made world that features an ancient city with dragons dwelling in the high mountains of the world.

It will also include 41 brand-new skins, 13 themed music tracks for your world, and a special map for the Battle mini game. With this new mash-up you’ll get a free update that’ll introduce polar bears and their babies roaming through the frozen biomes, new items, blocks, banners, and terrain generation! Check it out in the video below.

VR & Boss Fights!

If you’re into VR like we are here (HTC VIVE FTW!), you’re going to be really excited about this next update. Coming Oct 18th to the Minecraft Windows 10 Edition Beta, Minecraft Pocket and Minecraft Gear VR Edition, are the very first boss battles for Minecraft, which includes tweaks and changes to the Elder Guardian, Wither Boss, and more.

Along with the VR and boss battles, you will also now have “Addons” which will be simple text files that allow you to tweak the world of Minecraft. You will be able to download free examples on Minecraft.net in the future.

New Input Options

Also during the Oct 18th update, we should be expecting some new input options for Minecraft, including the Xbox Wireless Controller with Bluetooth, along with Oculus Touch support coming shortly thereafter.

Pixelmon Minecraft Mod

Catch The PokemonGO Wave with Pixelmon for Minecraft

Here at Minecraftserver.net, we’ve definitely been caught up in the Pokemon Go game that’s been taking the world by storm. Many of us employees at MC.net are in our late 20’s, so Pokemon was something we did when we were young, and with it becoming an AR experience on our smartphones, it’s really got many of us interested in Pokemon again. However, not all of us can leave our posts to go hunting for Pokemon, so we decided to see how we could tame our urge while working here at Minecraftserver.net!

After a bit of Googling, we came across an awesome mod that we believe may tame that urge in Minecraft for us! This mod may not be new to some of you, but to those who are just discovering it, it’s called Pixelmon. This mod adds almost 300 Pokemon with levels and more to your Minecraft world!

The Pixelmon mod, isn’t a simple cosmetic mod for Minecraft either. The team that created it went to great lengths to integrate almost everything about the attack system from the original Pokemon games, along with moves, ailments, and even actions when you’re catching or defeating a Pokemon in Minecraft!! Not to mention the all too familiar Pokedex built right into the mod, to help you keep track of all the Pokemon you’ve caught!

Another really great feature about this mod, and one of the reasons we’re recommending it, is the fact that it doesn’t make any changes to the base files for Minecraft, which makes it easy to add to your existing Minecraft server and work right along with the other popular addons and mods available today.

Take a look at this list of features:

  • 340 pokemon!
  • Fully configurable via pixelmon.cfg file
  • Comprehensive attack system featuring over 500 attacks (including status effects and stats modifiers)
  • Pokemon overlay showing current pokemon and their status
  • Functioning pokedex
  • Multiplayer supported!
  • Full PC storage system!
  • Evolution stones!
  • 3D pokeball and capture animation
  • All Models to scale as specified by the bulbapedia
  • Battleable Trainers
  • Aggression system
  • Friendship System
  • Hammer and anvil crafting system for pokeballs!
  • Apricorn trees
  • More Pokeballs: Heavy Ball, Level Ball, Love Ball, Moon Ball and Friend Ball + More!
  • Fossil Machine for reviving fossils found around the world!
  • Trading! Trade pokemon with your friends! Evolve Pokemon!
  • Find Icy and Mossy stones throughout the world to evolve certain Pokemon!

How Can I Get My Parents to Play Minecraft?

How Can I Get My Parents to Play Minecraft?

Hello and welcome back to our blog! Today we’d like to talk about something that we keep hearing from a lot of players online and customers of Minecraftserver.net, and that is “How to get my parents to play Minecraft with me”.

With Minecraft topping Digital Sales Charts on PS4 this month, and new DLC on the way, Minecraft has started making it’s way into the living room.

In addition to that, Minecraft For Windows 10 is in beta, and comes with any existing purchase of Minecraft, can give kids and parents easier access to Minecraft. Let’s not forget Minecraft Pocket Edition steaming ahead in 2016 with redstone components.

With more than 20 million people playing Minecraft, it’s only natural to want to play with friends and specifically family members.

But it’s not always so easy to get parents interested in Minecraft as we’ve heard and found, so we’d like to help give you some reasons to share with parents on why they should join in on the fun!

Minecraft is Essentially Digital Legos

Starting right off with something that hits you right in your childhood, Legos, are definitely akin to how the Minecraft world works. The basic measurements for construction in Minecraft is a cube, or block, which is very similar to Lego blocks as you build.

Minecraft

This gives you and your parents unlimited possibilities to build anything your heart and mind desires, leading to hours of safe, quality fun.

Violence is Limited

For the most part, Minecraft isn’t too violent. You do have to fight and kill animals and creatures to survive, but there is no blood or gore like many other games. Many times, there really is no way to “win” the game, keeping competition to a minimum and allowing for maximum creativity.

Minecraft is mostly non violent

Minecraft features two main types of game modes, Creative and Survival. In Creative, you’ll never have to worry about monsters or creatures, leaving you to build as you please. Survival, albeit a little bit harder, can be a fun way to create adventures with your parents through the game world.

You Can Play Alone, or With Many

Often times parent’s #1 worry in online gaming is bad language and bullying. Minecraft deals with that by allowing you to have your own single game world, where only you; or a select group of players can join, or if you’re feeling safe and secure about an Online Minecraft Server, jump into a moderated one where cursing and harassment is managed in real-time.

You Learn While Playing

Minecraft’s basic game design is very much an interpretation of everyday life if you were to live on your own, and could provide valuable lessons on what types of tools you’d need to complete what task, and further your understanding of basic elements like iron, gold, and diamond all while playing a game with your kids!

Minecraft Learn While Gaming

A study conducted by researchers at Australia’s Griffith University, called “Minecraft as a teaching tool: A statistical study of teachers’ experience using Minecraft in the classroom,” concluded that Minecraft can be “very successful as a teaching tool and that learners showed high levels of motivation and participation – which suggests improved learning.”

It’s Just Fun

In the end, think of Minecraft as an unlimited world of Legos that you can create, build, and destroy as you please. There’s nothing stopping you and your children from replicating your mother’s house, a favorite monument, or even a castle built from your imagination.

That’s why Minecraft is so great, in the end it’s up to you.
